Bemax Group contracted us to install a concealed retaining wall for one of their housing projects in Toorak. With a tight 10-day timeline and significant challenges from the start, we successfully constructed the wall within the fence, ensuring a seamless finish for cladding post-construction. Initial difficulties included a concrete slab that had already been laid and a pool in place, while soft conditions around the area required meticulous and precise drilling. Weight limits were also crucial due to the basement below, and the concrete slab's overpour nearly reached the fence, adding to the complexity. Our solution involved using 100x100mm galvanised posts and laminating channels to conceal the wall, with welded frames providing the strength for James Hardy cladding on both sides. This approach preserved the boutique build's aesthetic while overcoming significant challenges on budget and on program.
